Udders Ice Cream Making Workshop on 19 Jan 2013

U.d.d.e.r.s is always my favorite ice cream parlour in Singapore.  I've always wanted to take the ice cream workshop at Udders. So very happy I am that I had the chance to attend the workshop this morning organized by my company held at the Upper East Coast branch.

Other than milk and / or cream, sweeteners (like sugar), flavoursome ingredients (like vanilla beans, nuts or fruits), one of my colleagues walked away with a S$10 Udders vouchers by pointing out that one of the most important components of ice cream is air! Ha ha...

These are the ingredients given to us to make chocolate ice cream.

There's only a few simple steps to make the chocolate ice cream. Firstly, poured in Hershey’s chocolate sauce into the milk/cream mixture and stirred them gently until we get the right flavor. Then , we proceed to pour the mixture into a ziplock bag. It's important to squeeze out as much air as possible before zipping it.

A pack of coarse salt is also found lying on the table. Hmm...is it also part of the ingredients? No, we would not be using salt for ice cream making. The salt is meant to be added into a bag of ice so that the mixture of water and salt is cold enough to freeze the ice cream. We are told to "massage" the mixture until the salt melt the ice! a-ha....

The last step is to place the chocolate flavored mixture into the salt/ice mixture bag, covered it with towel and shake it until the mixture is frozen!

 My hand-made ice cream!

Ended the session with the eat-all-you-can Ice-cream Buffet... I'm quite full after two scoops of ice cream ^_^
